My Wild Words & Water writing retreats are set in the beautiful Cornish countryside. Tucked away near the winding paths of Frenchman’s Creek - yes, that one - Calamansac House is a quietly magical spot where time slows down and stories start to breathe. With wild gardens out front and a secret beach just down the hill, it’s a place where writers come to rest and reset. Whether you're here to begin something new or finally finish that stubborn chapter, the house holds space for it all.
WHERE YOU’LL STAY
There’s a space here for every kind of writer — whether you’re craving a quiet room all to yourself, or sharing with a friend who won’t mind your 6am journalling. Some rooms have sweeping river views, others overlook the gardens or curl away into peaceful corners. From luxury doubles to tucked-away singles, each one is comfortable, calming, and just right for sinking into a good book or a well-earned nap.

A room that feels a little special.
This one’s got space to stretch out — a king-size bed (or two singles if you’d prefer) and your own private ensuite bathroom. It’s quiet, comfortable, and gives you just the right amount of retreat within the retreat.
Best for: Solo travellers who like their own space, or two friends booking together.

Your own bed, your own room — shared.
A spacious twin setup with two single beds and a private ensuite bathroom. Same layout as the master, just made for sharing.
Best for: Pairs who want a little more room and privacy.

Luxury Double (with views)
A room made for slow mornings and early drafts.
King-size bed, soft sheets, and views that look out over the Helford River or the garden. Light-filled and peaceful, with access to beautifully designed shared bathrooms that include rainforest showers.
Best for: Writers who like a little extra room to think and unwind.

Shared comfort, still spacious.
Two single beds in a bright, comfortable room. You’ll share access to the same lovely bathrooms — calm, well-kept, and fitted with rainforest showers.
Best for: Friends or writing buddies happy to share a space with a bit more breathing room.

Quiet, tucked away, and just enough.
A smaller private room with a single bed and access to an adjacent shared bathroom with a shower. It’s simple, peaceful, and gives you a room of your own to rest and reset.
Best for: Writers who travel light and think best in small spaces.

Single Shared Passage
A small personal nook in a shared setting.
Your bed is set into a cosy alcove in one of Calamansac’s two wings — one with four beds, the other with three. Each has its own bedside table and lamp. Guests in these rooms share access to beautifully designed bathrooms with rainforest showers.
Best for: Writers who don’t mind being near others and want their own quiet spot within a group space.
Availability: Seven.
